Discuss food and other stuff at Alpine

Recommendations

Postby robertslsu » Fri Feb 05, 2010 4:06 pm

I will be skiing Alpine Meadows on Feb. 12th and 13th for the first time and would welcome some well needed feedback. I enjoy great snow, live music, great micro brews, and good food!

Questions:
1. Best place to rent ski's - cheaper the better
2. Decent place to stay that is not too expensive
3. Would like to stay in a town that has decent restaurants/bars to hang at each night. Walking distance would be great.

Thanking you in advance for your recommendations.

1. Tahoe Daves is probably the best bet for rentals that are cheap but reasonable quality. Locations in Truckee, King's Beach, Tahoe City and at the entrance to Squaw. The Sports Exchange on West River in Truckee is also a good bet.

2. You do realize it is President's weekend? Cheap is unlikely and availability may be as well.
King's beach is the cheapest area around North Tahoe but quite variable. I would hit up a central reservations site starting with the Alpine Meadows site.

3. Nothing like that is walking distance from Alpine. If you mean walking from hotel - you're describing downtown Truckee.
Streets are straight, houses are square, and our bodies are round. We don't belong there. We belong outside, doing stuff. - Warren Miller
